Technology is becoming more and more advanced that even basic accessories aren’t spared from being “smart”. Similar to how a telephone has evolved to a smartphone, smartwatches make our lives easier by being able to accomplish simple day-to-day tasks for us. But is it worthwhile to replace your old time-piece with a smartwatch?
Contrary to what a lot of people think, smartwatches aren’t just for the tech-savvy, they can also be useful for those who are minimal knowledge about gadgets. According to the Wikipedia definition, a smartwatch “is a touchscreen wearable computer in the form of a wristwatch.” It may seem too much to say that a computer can fit inside a small accessory, almost anything is possible with technology, right?
If you’re still sceptical buying a smartwatch, here are some of the reasons why I think you should go for it.
It can keep your phone out of sight
If you’re an active smartphone user because of your work or maybe just because you are, you probably receive tons of messages or emails every day. And admit it, not all those notifications are important so it can be frustrating when you have to grab your phone just to see something you don’t actually care about.
With a smartwatch, you can avoid this kind of situation because you just look at your watch and you’ll quickly see if the message needs to be responded or not. Some smartwatches even allow you to reply on the timepiece which is convenient. Keeping your phone in your pocket or your bag won’t only keep it safe when you’re outdoors, but it will also keep your attention on the road so you can avoid any unfortunate circumstances.
It provides easier GPS navigation
A lot of smartwatches nowadays already come with GPS as well as GLONASS which can come in handy whenever you’re travelling or during outdoor sports like biking and running. This feature won’t only guide you to your destination, but it can also help you track your pace, distance, and routes.
Instead of setting up your GPS on your smartphone, you can quickly do it with a smartwatch. In this way, you can focus more on getting to your destination or on reaching your target distance.
It’s like you have a watch collection in a single timepiece
Smartwatches look like standard wristwatches a first glance, but because they’re not the ordinary timepieces you can interchange their face which is cool. You can freely choose the design of your watch’s screen based on your outfit for the day, or you can be as creative as you want. Some smartwatches even allow you to use your own photos in case you feel extra. In this way, you’ll feel like you have a collection of watches because you can wear it with a different design every time.
It motivates you to work your butt off
Fitness trackers came first when it comes to upgrading traditional timepieces. However, smartwatches have surpassed them by offering more than just tracking fitness. As a result, some popular fitness tracker brands are stepping up their game by producing smartwatches. An example of this is the Fitbit Ionic Smartwatch which is an upgrade from the usual Fitbit bands we know of.
Because of their rich user interface, smartwatches can do a lot more when it comes to fitness tracking. Some have built-in heart rate sensors, activity tracker, motion sensor, and you can also install some apps to keep closely monitor all your progress.
